My first photos on this blog are dedicated to Kristen Brooke Sorrell. She is my niece who is turning 5 today. Happy Birthday Prissy Krissy!
All children love birthdays but this one is an amazing milestone for her. At the age of 3, she was diagnosed with ALL- a form of leukemia. One day she was taking ballet classes and within the same week, she began a grueling routine of weekly chemotherapy, sedation and spinal taps, injections, IVs, etc. etc. Her parents rose to the occasion and cared so tenderly for a fragile, thin and often ill little girl. Along with grandparents, extended family and gracious friends, the lengthy hospital stays and home regimens were made more bearable. At her 4th party, her beautiful blond hair was barely there. Soon she lost it all and sported a nice, shiny head for a few months. But that smile never left her face. Now just look at her!! She is leukemia-free, only taking monthly chemo and is back to the regular life of a girl her age. I love how her new 'do is growing in too. She radiates hope and a zest for life- we can all aspire to be more like her. So Happy Birthday to the most amazing, tender, loving little 5 year old that God ever put on this planet. You go girl!
Hugs and Kisses,
Aunt Julie
