Downtown Style

We were on a mission tonight!  Shari is a Christian author and style expert who wanted new images for an upcoming website.  I was a little in awe of her life- a hair stylist, agent in Nashville, assitant, etc.  Far cry from my life where I had just literally hosed my kids down in the yard after they painted themselves to look like Pocohantas!

Anyway, what a thrill to be a part of her upcoming projects!!  She has 2 fashion books in the works with 2 very different audiences- one for teen girls and one for women.  We took lots of different shots trying to appeal to both and I think we were successful.  Thanks for the laughs, Shari, and you really did work that Miss Tennessee pose on the tracks.  Work it girl!

Oh, Shari, these are my 2 assistants.  Don't you just love how they use color in their wardrobes?

Baby Grand

It is such a thrill to me when a client suggests a beautiful shot.  "M"s  youngest daughter, "A", loves playing the piano so we set up this piano shot and wow!!  I love it!

This family was so photogenic and easy to work with.  We even recreated a family photo from 3-4 years ago just to compare the two.  "S" is entering high school this year but already looks like a senior to me.  If music doesn't work out, there could be modeling in these girls' futures!  Thanks for a nice evening "M" family and enjoy a few of our best shots.

Baby on the way

My sweet neighbors let me take some maternity shots 3 weeks before the arrival of their second little girl.  Let me tell you, this couple makes some yummy babies too!  Little "T" wasn't in the picture mood so we cut our time short but not before getting these beautiful shots.  Best wishes to you, "P" family, and I can't wait to meet Miss Paige once she makes her debut.

Christmas in July

I know December is still 6 months away but I feel like I've already received my Christmas gift this year.  I am so thrilled to announce that I have been hired by Stikeleather Photography to be an assistant wedding photographer!!!!  After shooting alongside them last weekend, we discussed the opportunity and I feel God is leading me to accept.  I truly appreciate them believing in me enough to book me to work 8 weddings between now and Christmas.  That will surely build my wedding portfolio and the experience is priceless to me.

I know, you are probably thinking, "will you still take pictures of my kiddos too?"  The answer is both yes and no :)  To be a good wife and mother, I must be a better steward of my time.  Therefore, I am restructuring certain aspects of my business and will only be accepting 2 children/family appointments per week.  With weddings taking up my Saturdays and many editing hours during the week, I will offer a more limited shooting schedule this fall.  I will be announcing more specific business changes (pricing changes, product offerings and special promotions) on this blog during August as new pricing will take effect on September 1.

Here is my plan.....
.......September is reserved for regular portrait sessions (this is the month to get those family Christmas card shots done at the location of your choice)  8-12 sessions available
......October Reserved for preschool and wedding clients- no regular portrait sessions available
......October 26-November 1 I will run a Christmas Card Mini Session promotion at the lake location when fall leaves are in full color  10-12 sessions available
All holiday orders must be completed by November 7 to guarantee December delivery so please DON'T wait until October to book an appointment.

Change is hard and comes with mixed emotions, but I know it is the right thing to do for my business.  It is an opportunity of a lifetime to gain experience from such trained professionals- my stocking feels full already and there are still 153 days left until Christmas!

Train Station

I love stumbling upon neat little towns and testing them out for photos.  I've been waiting for a little boy to photograph in front of this red train car and little "E" was just what I had in mind.  His gorgeous older sisters, "E" and "L", were so patient with wiggly, squirmy "E" and held those smiles like pros.  I love how happy he is in the one with the train behind him.  Thanks for bringing the vision to life "S" family.  For a look at how these girls have grown, visit my Information section on my website and click on referrals.  They are the cuties whispering secrets to each other so we had to recreate that shot again.  Enjoy your sneak peeks!

Love Sees No Color

Introducing the "S" family. They are such a sweet and loving family. Color is such a "non-issue" in this biracial family and I love that their shadows holding hands sums that up.

It was a hot one this day but we got so many BIG smiles from these girls. I was told that little "M" had a bad accident the day after the shoot and lost one of her baby teeth so here you go, Mom- one last shot of those pearly whites intact. Can't you just hear the giggling in these pictures? We caught that peek-a-boo moment of "M"'s dress over Dad's face when he put her on his shoulders. Capturing truly spontaneous moments like that is exactly why I love family photography. Thanks for the fun!

Family Reunion

"What the next generation will value most is not what we owned, but the evidence of who we were and the tales of how we loved."- Ellen Goodman

Three  generations together under one roof again.  I was hired by the daughter of this homeowner to take large group photos at this long-awaited family reunion.  "C", the lady of the house, and her brother "B", had all of their grown kids and spouses there plus the 6 grandchildren.  They even brought out the last big group shot they had taken in the 80's complete with big permed hair, lots of floral prints and "K's" pink pumps and black tights. Too funny!  This go round they opted for more classic attire and assigned a different color to each family.  Crowd control wasn't a problem either since I could ask for "brown family", "red kids", "Team White", etc.

Thanks for inviting me to such a special event.  It was a pleasure working with you all.
